Abstract
Ge'ez is recognized not merely as an ancient language but as a foundational linguistic vessel carrying profound theological meaning within Ethiopian culture. This article explores the multifaceted nature of Ge'ez, examining its derivation from divine sources and its role as the primary medium for spiritual communication. The analysis delves into the etymology of "Ge'ez," linking it to concepts of liberation and remembrance. Furthermore, it provides a detailed linguistic examination of the script, noting its unique Abugida structure, which allows each character to inherently carry vowel sounds. By classifying the characters according to their structural morphology (e.g., columnar vs. connecting) and phonetic origins, this paper illuminates the sophisticated system developed by Ethiopian scribes. Finally, it explores the profound symbolic relationship between the Ge'ez alphabet and divine attributes, demonstrating how every letter serves as a representation of God’s nature—from the Father to the Almighty. Understanding Ge'ez is thus presented as essential for preserving theological accuracy and maintaining the cultural legacy of its speakers.
